  1. I met Karen a few years ago at our homeschool co-op in Fairview. We became friends through years of Thursdays. She was such an incredible person, a most talented artist and an amazing mother. She was a can do kind of woman. If there was need of anything she would be the first one to volunteer to do whatever needed to be done and always the last one to leave just to make sure that everything that needed to be done was done. She taught many classes at our co-op. My children and myself know where Suriname and Lesotho are because of Karen, furthermore, my children now demand that I buy free trade chocolate because Karen taught them how many children are forced to work. She was a very special person, goodness and fairness to the bone. At our co-op we have a big, beautiful open field of long grass and wild flowers. I will always remember her there, lying in the grass with a big smile on her face and the wind softly blowing in her strawberry blonde hair.surrounded by happy, laughing children. She was a light of love to everyone she knew and I will miss her terribly. I am so happy that I got to know her and spend time with her and her girls. I have noticed that many, many angels are pictured with having long golden, reddish flowing hair just like Karen, now we have an angel we know.

  2. I have set up next to Karen and Matthew downtown Asheville, as we sold our wares for the past 5 years.

I always enjoyed visiting with Karen. My thoughts of her is that she was a wonderfully kind, sweet woman. She carried herself elegantly. She was very talented. She was devoted immensely to her beautiful daughters. She cared for others and for the Earth.

I was very fortunate to have known her!

  3. What a tragic loss of a wonderful woman. I babysat Karen when she was very young and found her to be special and sensitive, even as a child. May the gift of her life, her art, her children, and her love be a blessing and consolation for all.
    Sincerely,
    Nancy Needham

  4. I met Karen a few years ago after her recent move to North Carolina. Karen was a talented artist, kind friend to those around her and loving wife and mother. I will always remember her laugh, as she did often. I mourn the loss of her along with her husband and two beautiful daughters. She was a beautiful person inside and out and I am glad that I had the chance to know her.
